sanctuary

crete

there is a road in crete with no name.

it winds like a serpent through the sun-drenched mountains, bend after bend, drawing you into a landscape where time seems to slow with every turn.

the sanctuary emerges in rare seclusion, where nature comes to rest, held by the mountains, with the sea at its feet and touched by the sunset.

and there, where the road ends, the path continues.

the retreat

a mountain in the east of crete. five people, sometimes fewer, sometimes one.

the deepest container i offer, and the only one where i am with you for the whole of it.

the place

we are high on a mountain, alone. the sea open to the northwest, a ridge closing us in from the south. no people. no sign of other lives, only the occasional shepherd who comes by to say hello and leaves as quietly as he came.

the mornings are still. the sun rises behind the ridge and reaches us late, dissolving the last shadow as it crests. every evening is given a sunset you do not forget. wild sage and thyme cover the ground, and the whole mountain smells of clarity.

there is nowhere here to perform, and no one to perform for.
that, before anything else, is why the work becomes possible.

who comes here

you have built a life that works. from the outside it holds.
and still, in some layer beneath the one you show people, something is not quite right — not in your circumstances, in you.

you have probably tried to think your way out of it.
it does not yield to thinking.

you may know this already:

the sense that you are performing a life rather than living it. the competence that everyone praises and no one sees the cost of. the quiet suspicion that you have outgrown the shape you keep folding yourself into. the ache that has no event attached to it, that you cannot point to, that does not go away because there is nothing obvious to fix.

if you recognise yourself here, you are not broken. it is your call for action.

how the days move

we begin on the ground. not with ceremony — with the small things. food that feeds you. breath. a simple morning practice. long walks into the mountains, where the real conversation happens side by side, with somewhere to look other than each other.

here you are met. not assessed — met. and somewhere along the way, gently, the things that hold you begin to surface on their own.

what happens after that is harder to name than to feel. i work with the body rather than the story it tells — with my hands, with sound, with my own voice, with the intelligence of the plants this land offers. to the women i am often a mother; to men, a sister; sometimes something with no name. i do not arrange what arrives. i become a vessel for it, and afterward i marvel, every time, at how it resolves into something i could not have planned.

i will not explain more of this here. it is not a thing words reach. if it is for you, you will feel it.

what you leave with

some ordinary morning, weeks from now, you will be doing something unremarkable — coffee, a doorway, the first message of the day — and you will notice that the bracing is gone. the strain that had been running underneath everything, so steadily you'd mistaken it for yourself. presence where there was performance. ease where there was effort. a life that has quietly begun to fit.

one retreat does not fix everything, and i would not trust anyone who promised it did. the body integrates at its own pace. sometimes a single breakthrough carries a person for years. sometimes a deeply rooted thing asks for more than one passage. healing is not an event — it continues, gently, after you leave.

this is by invitation

the room stays small on purpose. who is in it matters as much as what we do.

if something here rings true, write to me and tell me why you feel this is right for you. we will speak about what you are looking for, the shape and length that would serve you, and when there is space.

all enquiries are held in confidence.
